KELULUSHIDUPAN LARVA UDANG VANNAMEI PADA PENERAPAN PERBEDAAN SISTIM FILTRASI AIR MEDIA PEMELIHARAAN

Abstract


Vannamei shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei) is one of the marine biological resources cultivated by shrimp farmers in Indonesia. Seed requirements for production fulfillment in 2017 were projected at a number of 70.6 billion (KKPNews, 2017). However, the seed requirement has not been optimally fulfilled by various shrimp hatcheries centers. This is due to the problem of water quality degradation that can lead the occurrence of death has not been optimally solved. Therefore, it is necessary to solve it through water quality management improvement approach by applying ultrafiltration system to shrimp hatchery. This experiment was aimed to see the shrimp survival rate response due to the application of different filtration systems. The benefits of this study can further help suppress the death of shrimp Vannamei larvae in the production process. Experiments used Vannamei Shrimp larvae (L. vannamei)  of 4,000,000 nauplii. Shrimp larvae were kept in 4 tanks, each volume 8 m3. Two tank as reservoar tank were equipped with ultrafiltration and other systems as controls using sandfilter. Shrimp larvae maintained at salinity 34 ppt, temperature 28 - 32 ° C, pH 6,5 - 8, oxygen 4-7,5 mg / L, water depth 70-120 cm (Dwisaputro, 2014). Test feed used live feed (phyto and zooplankton) and artificial feed, feeding frequency 6 times a day. Implementation of experimental activities used action research method (Nasir, 1988), with treatment A (Implementation of filtration system with sand filter on Vannamei shrimp backyard hatchery), B (Implementation of ultrafiltration system on Vannamei shrimp backyard hatchery), twice repetitions. Observation parameters were conducted on survival rate of shrimp larvae. Water quality observations, such as: temperature, salinity, pH, TSS, dissolved O2, NH3 and NO3-2. Data obtained at each treatment were analyzed using the varians analysis (Steel and Torrie, 1980; Sudjana, 1982). The Vannamei shrimp larvae that was reared with maintenance pattern with the application of ultrafiltration system resulted in very different survival compared with the application of maintenance pattern using sandfilter (p> 0,01). Water qualities of Vannamei shrimp larvae, especially: Ammonia (NH3-N) and TSS contents  increased with longer larval maintenance time.
