PENINGKATAN IMUNITAS BENIH KERAPU SUNU (Plectropomus leopardus) DI HATCHERY MELALUI APLIKASI VAKSIN BAKTERI POLIVALEN

Abstract


Vibriosis is one of serious problems faced in grouper culture in Indonesia. Institute for Mariculture Research and Fisheries Extension (IMRAFE) has been success to produce polyvalent bacterial vaccine. The aim of this research was to investigate the effectiveness of the polivalent bacterial vaccine to increase immunity of coral trout grouper (Plectropomus leopardus) against bacterial infection. Three hundred pieces of coral trout grouper with total length of ± 6 cm were vaccinated for 1 hr in vaccine solution at concentration of 1mL vaccine/L of sea water. On the other hand, 300 pieces of coral trout with the same size were used as control. The fish then were reared in concrete tanks equipped with filter and aeration systems in Pathology Laboratory of IMRAFE, Gondol, Bali. Results showed that polivalent bacterial vaccine was effective to increase immunity of coral trout grouper against bacterial infection. But, there was no different in growth (both in body weight and total length) between vaccinated fish and unvaccinated fish
